Trouble Shooting

Please note: recommend you disable any screen savers whilst you are playing Star Conquest.

Mac OS 7.5.5 and DrawSprocket.

Make sure you use a version of DrawSprocket compatible with the version of Mac OS you are running. If this is a DrawSprocket version older than 1.7.5 you should drag the "DrawSprocketLib" file in the "Star Conquest" folder to the Trash.

Star Conquest will not run.

Make sure you have enough free memory with at least 3MB left for the Mac OS.

Memory and Larger Games.

When playing with lots of Players or Star Systems increase the memory allocated to Star Conquest. If the background music stops playing or you have redraw problems these may indicate you have not allocated enough memory.

Star Conquest is hard to learn.

Make sure you read the Tutorial section of the reference manual (print it out if possible). Then start by opening and playing the Tutorial game.

Star Conquest won't run on Mac OS 8.0

You need to have AppearanceLib 1.0.1 installed. We recommend upgrading to Mac OS 8.1.

Star Conquest won't run on Mac OS 8.5

Update to version 1.1.1 of Star Conquest

Star Conquest Crashes on 300% Star Map Magnification

Update to version 1.1 of Star Conquest

Star Conquest Carbon won't run on OS X

If you are trying to run the Carbon version on OS X and get an error message saying "The application Star Conquest Carbon could not be launched because of a shared library error: <Star Conquest Carbon> <DrawSprocketLib> <InterfaceLib>". Simply remove the DrawSprocketLib from the Star Conquest folder.

System Requirements

Any Power Macintosh with QuickTime, DrawSprocket, Open Transport (optional, needed for network games), Speech Manager (optional, required for speech options), 25MB of free memory and approximately 300MB of available disk space. Mac OS X 10.0.3 required to use the Carbon version or CarbonLib 1.3.1 under Classic Mac OS.
